The Company

Our client is a large, future-focused organisation with a complex capital development pipeline.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to deliver large-scale infrastructure projects in a complex and dynamic environment.

The Role

This is a Fixed Term opportunity for 3-4 years, supporting the successful delivery of high-profile capital works and infrastructure developments, with direct impact on critical national infrastructure.

You will work closely with programme and project leadership, acting as a key commercial advisor across all stages of the project lifecycle, from early feasibility through to completion.

The role requires a commercially astute and proactive individual who can drive outcomes, manage risk, and influence stakeholders across both internal teams and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial leadership and strategic advice throughout project delivery.
  • Monitor and report on project performance, budgets, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead the development and execution of contract and procurement strategies.
  • Ensure consistent commercial practices and governance reporting across all workstreams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants, contractors, and advisors to ensure alignment with project goals and business objectives.
  • Identify and manage risk, change, and contract-related issues.
  • Support project and programme teams in decision-making with accurate, timely commercial insights.
  • Champion best practice in health, safety, and wellbeing across all activities.

Skills And Experience

  • 15+ years’ experience in senior commercial roles, ideally on client-side infrastructure programmes.
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Law, Finance, or Management.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC3/4 and NZS 3910 forms of contract.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver commercial outcomes on major capital projects.
  • Exceptional negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience managing procurement strategies and contract performance.
  • Ability to interpret complex project data and provide actionable insight.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
